Szczesny Family History

The following is an account of the Stasney family, as remembered by John M. Brown, husband of Stella B. Stasney Brown.

Anthony Szczesny was born in Ploand, City of Krakof. He came to Shamokin and worked in the mines. He had a brother, Paul and a sister Mary in Poland. Wilamina Marcoski, wife of Anthony and mother of Stella. She was born in Poland, City of Krakof, of Carl Marcoski and Mary Kulacoski. She immigrated to New York and worked in a dress mill. Wilamina had two brothers, Carl and Frank, and one sister, Minnie. Anthony Szczesny on one of his trips to New York met Wilamina, and later they were married and lived in Shamokin. They had four children; Victoria, Mary , Stella and Sally.


Wilamina Marcoski's mother, Mary Kulacoski, was polish and her father, Anthony, was Lithuanian. Wilamina Marcoski-Stasney (Szczesny)'s brother, Carl, married and had one daughter: Katie: who married Scheminsky and had four children - one boy and three girls. Wilamina's brother Frank, married and had one son, Frank, who married and also had a son. Wilamina's uncle, Joe Kulacoski, Sr., came to America from Poland and married Sophie. They had one son and one daughter. They also raised their daughter's son, Ted, who married Mavis and they have one daughter. The daughter of Joe and sophie, Minnie, married Joe Miscavage and had two sons and two daughters.
