The other day I stopped by the local grocery store to purchase a few items for the week. As I stood in line at the checkout counter I glanced to my left at the aisle next to me. I had a vision of a small boy; maybe two years of age, standing in a sea of red spaghetti sauce and broken glass, proudly repeating the words - mess. . . mess . . . mess - while his mother gently cleaned his face and hands.

Where does time go?

At some point our little boy, became "College Boy". It happened fast. One day we were teaching him to walk, next to read and write. Then, like a gust of wind he was off to school and playing little league baseball. Our lives became occupied with school trips, coaching little league, and helping with homework assignments. Overnight, he became a teenager. We could tell because suddenly he had an answer for everything. We enjoyed his adolescent years. Both of us attended his high school sports competitions and liked meeting his new friends. Somehow we survived teaching him to drive and endured the dreaded - "Senior Week". These were good times. We faced some difficuties as well but as Ol' Blue Eyes once said - "Too few to mention".

A very wise women once wrote, "Relish every moment - most of them don't come around a second time". Looking back I'm glad we took her sound advice. Life goes by fast. They say time flies when you're having fun; well it's been a fun four years. Tomorrow "College Boy" graduates.

College Boy: Great, then we went to the track and I hit an Exacta!
Me: Gonna be a long semester

9/9/2013 Tonight College Boy goes back - gonna miss hearing him come in all hours of the night.

12/17/2013 Thanks to College Boy for proving that you can live in the same house and not see someone for three days.

1/26/2014 College Boy living the life at Wing Bowl. Trying to think of when I lost control, I really thought I was raising him right.

2/14/2014 So, while discussing the virtues of Valentine's Day, College Boy adds that it is much easier to not have a date on this day because then you are under no pressure. He then adds that it was more fun when he was a "womanizer", afterall, that was something he was good at.

2/20/2014 College Boy still playing with the Pokemon Gameboy he got when he was five.

3/17/2014 College Boy: "What's for dinner?"
Me: "I'm making soup!"
College Boy: "I'm not eating that, I will make my own dinner"
Me: "Suit yourself"
What did he eat? A can of soup!

3/29/2014 College Boy having a temper tantrum because he just realized I gave away his Pokemon VHS movies years ago.

5/13/2014 Just had breakfast with College Boy, he asked: "how's dad doing? Haven't seen him in three days!" Let the summer hours commence!

6/14/2014 At 1:30, I texted College Boy and asked if he would be home for dinner and he promptly responded, "no, going out". At 4:45 he walks in and says: "I'm hungry, what's for dinner?"

6/24/2014 When I ask: "What should we have for dinner?", it is usually answered with something along the lines of "Good Food". Today when pressed for a more concise definition of good food, I am given (by College Boy) Sloppy Joes! Although, I still am not convinced that this is the "good food" answer I was seeking, we will nonetheless have Sloppy Joes so I don't have to hear "When are we going to have good food for dinner?"

8/14/2014 Now I know why College Boy says he has no socks, found this stash between the bed and wall. I suppose that if you are finding things under your son's bed, this isn't so bad,and the bonus was that it was an even number- sixteen!

10/9/2014 When College Boy was a baby, I would watch him sleeping and be in awe of the miracle of life. Now, I look at him sleeping to remember what he looks like as I think the last time I saw him was Sunday!

10/17/2014 Fair is fair - since we have taken vacations without College Boy, today he left for his without us!

10/22/2014 College Boy has been in Tucson for the last five days visiting his buddy at the University of Arizona. He flies back tonight. He texted me that he is not happy about coming home and that he would love to stay there. Really, I don't understand why he wouldn't want to come home; I washed his sheets while he was away!

College Boy : "My friend's house."
Me: "Will there be adult supervision?"
College Boy: "Half my friends are already twenty one and I am very mature for my age."

4/21/2015 College (boy) Man's work talent in demand today, wondering if fans will still want this during the season?

5/12/2015 While I am sitting here scanning and faxing his paperwork to start an internship, I tell College Boy that he should be paying me secretary rate. His response was that no he was not going to pay me today, but when he has a real job and making lots of money he will see to it that I am put in a top notch retirement home, not one of those ordinary ones that my other friends will be in. " If you see him walking funny, it is because my foot was up his a$$!

6/4/2015 Who knew that you could win a trophy racing go karts? College Boy has a new prized possession.

6/24/2015 Looking at College Boy's desk, it's quite apparent that he isn't in the habit of throwing things out. Yet, he rides a train and the conductor doesn't collect his ticket, so what does he do? He throws the still good ticket out, because that he didn't need.

6/26/2015 College Boy and his buddies. New Orleans bound. Hope they are still smiling this time next week.

8/29/2015 When told that he needs to "Drink Responsibly", College Boy replied, "If that means not spilling any, then, yes I do drink responsibly!"

Me: "I was thinking pot roast."
College Boy: "I ate filet mignon the other night, how can you expect me to eat that!"

12/20/2015 College Boy: "Mom, I did really good this semester, 3 A's, 2 B's, don't you think $20 is a nice little reward for doing so good?" I tell him that's a small price to pay and that I am very proud of him. On his way out, he says to Ray Pascali, "Dad, remember when you used to give me money for a good report card?" You can see where this story is going...
